Deloitte Canada has announced a multi-year agreement with CarbonCure Technologies, a carbon removal technology company, to purchase high-quality carbon credits. This partnership involves supporting the deployment of CarbonCure’s technology, which captures carbon dioxide (CO2) in concrete. CarbonCure’s solution enables concrete producers to use captured CO2 to produce low-carbon concrete mixes, reducing reliance on carbon-intensive cement. Cement production accounts for about 8% of global CO2 emissions. Deloitte’s agreement with CarbonCure aligns with its carbon management strategy to promote the development and scale of impactful market solutions. The move addresses environmental concerns associated with concrete, the most widely used construction material globally, and contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the construction industry.
