Truecaller, the caller identification app from Sweden, has introduced an AI-driven assistant in India. Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Chief Product Officer & MD of Truecaller India, discussed how AI bolsters communication security, spam control, and other functions. AI is used for predicting fraud, categorizing messages offline, and enhancing customer support. Truecaller’s AI chatbot feature emerged after acquiring Call Hero, expanding from the US to English-speaking markets. The Indian market’s specific needs were addressed by supporting English, Hindi, and Hinglish. Data privacy is maintained through minimal data exchange, user consent, and stringent data handling practices. The company avoids data monetization and focuses on AI integration and business offerings.
