Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain, Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Deborah Lipstadt, and Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice Desirée Cormier Smith are traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina from July 9–13. On July 11, the delegation will travel to Srebrenica to honor those who lost their lives in 1995. They will join U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael J. Murphy to participate in the ceremony commemorating the 28th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.
In Sarajevo, they will meet with religious actors, civil society, and youth to discuss building tolerance around religion or belief and combatting systemic racism, discrimination, violence, and xenophobia to promote peace and prosperity for all.
