Publication of the draft amendments to the “Guidelines for Administrative Processes” regarding defined contribution pension plan operational management institutions for public consultation
<Summary>
The FSA proposed the draft amendments to the “Guidelines for Administrative Processes” regarding defined contribution pension plan operational management institutions (hereinafter referred to as the “proposal”) for public consultation.
In line with the government-wide efforts and measures to conform to digital principles for administration procedures, the proposal is mainly intended to review procedures for internal audits, etc. of defined contribution pension plan operational management institutions, thereby providing reasonable and necessary amendments to the said Guidelines.
Public comments will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. [JST], December 4, 2023.

The FSA published the draft “Cabinet Order to Amend the Order for Enforcement of the Banking Act, etc.” for public consultation.
The proposal is mainly intended to provide amendments in response to requests for deregulation from the financial sector and relevant industry organizations, in terms of changing the procedure for establishing new holidays for incumbent business offices of banks, etc. (excluding certain business offices, such as head offices) from an approval-based system to a notification-based system.
Public comments will be accepted until 12:00 p.m. (noon) [JST], November 30, 2023.

<Summary>
The FSA published the agenda and handouts of the 19th meeting of the “Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance,”* which was held on November 2, 2023.
The secretariat of the expert panel (i.e. the FSA) gave a briefing on Japan Weeks,  the direction of future discussions, and human resource development in terms of sustainable finance, followed by discussions on the respective topics thereof by the expert panel members.
*The Expert Panel is composed of business, financial, and academic experts, with observers of officials from pertinent ministries and agencies. The FSA (Strategy Development Division, Strategy Development and Management Bureau) serves as the secretariat.

Expansion of functions of “AI Chatbot”
<Summary>
Subsequent to the introduction of “AI Chatbot” in September 2022, in which AI (artificial intelligence) responds to common online inquiries (frequently asked questions) about financial administration and general financial services, the FSA updated the functions of “AI Chatbot” by enhancing the contents of inquiries for financial services users.

“AI Chatbot” is accessible by clicking on the icon that appears in the lower right corner of the screen of the FSA’s web portal, and selecting or typing in a query. (Queries are available only in Japanese).

Publication of a series of videos showing the FSA officials actually conducting financial and economic educational classes for students
<Summary>
The FSA has been publishing tutorial/teaching instructional materials for financial and economic education classes corresponding to the new Courses of Study (effective April 2022).
In response to comments from viewers who requested to see actual school-based lessons on financial and economic education, the FSA has made available on its web portal a series of videos (available only in Japanese) showing the FSA officials actually conducting the lessons at a high school.
