Iceberg Data Lab Introduces AI-Powered Chatbot ‘Barbatus’ for Transparent ESG Data Insights

AI/MLIceberg Data Lab Introduces AI-Powered Chatbot 'Barbatus' for Transparent ESG Data Insights

Green fintech company Iceberg Data Lab has unveiled a novel product utilizing generative AI technology. This product swiftly generates real-time, text-based, and well-sourced explanations to address inquiries about the ESG data of portfolio companies. Named Barbatus, inspired by a nearly-extinct bird of prey, the chatbot is educated to extricate and organize information from unstructured text within IDL’s extensive dataset, spanning over 2,300 diverse products and services.

Barbatus, operational in a pilot phase since September, emphasizes transparency in reporting. It offers clients specific details such as page numbers, paragraphs, and information sources used to answer queries. Matthieu Maurin, CEO and co-founder of Iceberg Data Lab, highlights that as financial institutions exhibit heightened interest in ESG matters, reporting frameworks have concurrently grown intricate. Barbatus addresses this challenge by aiding clients in swiftly, clearly, and effectively analyzing complex ESG data. This empowers them to comprehend the environmental impacts of their investments better and accelerates their transition towards sustainability.
